[Botrychium simplex is known from turfy slopes and rocky ledges scattered across Nfld., (Bouchard et al., 1991). While Farrar's map (Farrar 2011) of the range of Botrychium simplex var. simplex extends across south and central Labrador, but no specimens of B. simplex have been reported yet from Labrador.  Botrychium simplex var. tenebrosum, has recently been elevated to species status, B. tenebrosum (A.A.Eaton) R.T.Clausen. This species has been tentatively identified from Newfoundland by Farrar from photographs, but confirmation from examination of specimens is necessary before this species is confirmed from Nfld.]
