[Potentilla litoralis is known from limestone or sandstone cliffs and talus in Nfld. (Bouchard et al. 1991). NL reports of the western Potentilla bipinnatifida Dougl. ex Hook. refer to P. litoralis (S.G. Hay et al. 1990). The varietal authority for the synonym P. pensylvanica var. pectinata has been reported erroneously in most major taxonomic databases as (Raf.) B.Boivin, but Lepage is the correct author of this combination, as mentioned in Nat. can. 1952: 178-179 (M. Blondeau, pers. comm., 2001).]
