[Balm-of-Gilead (Populus ×gileadensis), described from eCanada, is a sterile cultivar of P. ×jackii, which has spread from cultivation by sprouts and cuttings in Nfld., currently, there are no known naturalized populations, although planted trees may still exist.  This hybrid does not occur naturally in Nfld., as one the parent, Populus deltoides, does not occur in Nfld.  Originally, the name Populus ×jackii was applied to P. balsamifera × P. deltoides hybrids reported from AB to eQC, while the name Populus ×gileadensis was applied to hybrids of the same parentage east of ON.]
