[New determinations of Rouleau’s collections (MT) by Geoffrey Hall have shown that this allopolyploid species (a fertile hybrid of A. pedatum and A. aleuticum) is present on the slopes of North Arm Mountain in western Newfoundland (L. Brouillet, pers. comm., Nov. 2016, Geoff Hall, pers. comm. 2022). In addition to the Rouleau collection, another Adiantum specimen, collected from North Arm Mountain by Andrée Thériault & Geoff Hall (#1589I) in 2015, exhibited traits (false indusia length, stalk length of central ultimate segments and spore diameter) that seem to fit Adiantum viridimontanum better than A. aleuticum, however, Geoff Hall believes more field surveys and study are needed to confirm whether or not Adiantum viridimontanum does occur in insular Newfoundland (Geoff Hall, pers. comm. 2022).
