[Alisma triviale is known only from wet shores of 4 disjunct locations in 3 areas: western Nfld. (Deer Lake area), northeast Nfld. (Peter's River and Traytown), and the Avalon Peninsula (St. John’s), eNfld. (Bouchard et al., 1991; DFNL). The species name Alisma plantago-aquatica L. was mistakenly copied as Alisma plantago L. by subsequent authors, and the taxa named by Schult. & Schult.f. (1830), A. Gray (1856) and Britton et al. (B.S.P.) (1888) were all published as varieties of Alisma plantago L.; however, this is considered a correctible mistake under the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN-Melbourne Code, 2011).]
