[Thelypteris palustris subsp. pubescens is known from fens and alder thickets in Nfld. (Bouchard et al., 1991). Rouleau (1968) listed this species as Thelypteris thelypteridioides (Michx.) Holub., but A. Smith (FNA 1993) explains that, although this name is applied to Thelypteris palustris, Tryon et al. (1980) have shown that this application was based on an incorrect typification by C.V. Morton (1967) FNA 2:213 (1993). FNA now lists it as a synonym of Amauropelta noveboracensis (as T. noveboracensis). Thelypteris palustris subsp. palustris occurs only in Eurasia.]
