[Now recognized as 2 distinct species, Carex capitata and Carex arctogena previously had been considered conspecific, with C. arctogena listed as a synonym of C. capitata. Although the full range in NL has not been confirmed, annotations of NL specimens in Québec herbaria by Dr. J. Cayouette indicate that both species are present in NL, and one specimen (MT) is from Labrador (L. Brouillet, pers. comm., Jan. 28, 2016). Carex capitata was reported from pool margins in limestone barrens along the Strait of Belle Isle, nwNfld. (Bouchard et al., 1991).]
