[In insular Newfoundland, Eleocharis nitida is found in western and central Nfld. in areas with eutrophic seepage. (Bouchard et al., 1991). A single report of E. nitida from western Labrador was made in 1967 by Y. Mäkinen from near Esker, wLab. (CAN), but the species has not persisted and is no longer considered part of the current Labrador flora.]
