[Reported from Maine and Nova Scotia as J. articulatus × J. brevicaudatus in Rhodora 12: 137 (1910) and 23:242 (1921). Fernald describes this hybrid as very abundant in southern Newfoundland (and eastern North America), "often forming extensive areas of thousands of sterile plants combining the characters of the two fertile parents." Fernald mentions specific collections from Murray's Pond, Grand Falls, Birchy Cove (Curling), and Harry's River (Fernald 1933: 236).]
