[Juncus subtilis is known from pond margins in western and central Nfld. (Bouchard et al., 1991). Although it appears in synonymy in some online databases as a synonym of J. subtilis, the name J. fluitans Michx. was not validly published; Kirschner (2002) states that Michaux (1803) did not intended to publish a new name, just make reference to Lamarck's J. fluitans, which is now listed as a synonym of J. bulbosus.]
