[A population of Rydberg's poison ivy was discovered in Newfoundland by C. Hanel in August, 2017, from a remote calcareous talus slope near Corner Brook. Since this report is limited to one recent discovery, it is likely that its presence in Newfoundland is due to an accidental introduction, possibly by birds, who consume the fruit. This small population will be monitored to see if it persists over time. In the USDA PLANTS Database, this low shrub is recognized as a distinct species, Toxicodendron rydbergii, rather than as a variety of the climbing T. radicans of eastern North America.]
