[The first Labrador report of Carum carvi was made by C.Hanel in 2004 from English Point (C. Hanel 2005). Carum carvi is the most common introduced umbellifer in western Nfld., occupying habitats usually occupied by Daucus carota in more southerly provinces (Mann 1995). It is rapidly spreading north along roadsides on the Great Northern Peninsula. The name Seseli carvi Lam. is an error that appears in some databases, but this name was provided by Lamarck in 1795 as the French common name for the taxon Carum carvi L. and not intended for use as a new species name (K. Gandhi, pers. comm., June 4, 2015).]
