[Vicia hirsuta was previously not known from insular Newfoundland; an old report from 1902, collected at Pont-au-Cheval, St. Pierre & Miquelon, by French-Canadian botanist Louis Arsène, was  mistakenly attributed to Newfoundland.  However, on July 14, 2023, Matt Levesque found a population growing on a sand bar in New Harbour, Conception Bay, eNfld.  This collection provides the first confirmed record of Vicia hirsuta from insular Newfoundland (specimen at MT).]
