[Viola macloskeyi does not occur in NL; recent DNA research by Marcussen et al (2022) has shown that many Viola species lumped together in the 2015 FNA treatment of Viola are actually distinct species, including Viola pallens (now Viola minuscula), which was synonymized in 2015 under Viola macloskeyi, a western North American species, in Canada extending east only to Manitoba.]
