[According to D. Frey et al. (2003), the taxon Erigeron strigosus var. septentrionalis should be included in synonymy under Erigeron annuus rather than E. strigosus, and not recognized as a distinct variety or subspecies. This change in status has not yet been widely accepted in North America. Note that most herbarium specimens of Erigeron strigosus have not been annotated as to variety, thus the exact range of the typical variety and var. septentrionalis is not well documented in the province.]
