[Ahti (1961) and Hultén (1968) believe Erysimum cheiranthoides to be native in the northern part of its range; Ahti recognizes this northern biennial taxon as subsp. altum, and through examination of herbarium records, has determined the range of subsp. altum in eastern Canada to include northern Québec and northern Ontario, but not insular Nfld., although subsp. altum is expected to occur in Labrador (T. Ahti, pers. comm., Apr. 2015). Rollins (1993) does not recognize subspecific taxa, but does state that although widely introduced from Eurasia, Erysimum cheiranthoides is "apparently indigenous in some areas."]
