[Nasturtium microphyllum is a tetraploid taxon (n = 64) that is separated from Nasturtium officinale (diploid, n =32) mainly on mature fruit and seed characters. According to Scoggan (1978), eastern Canadian plants of Nasturtium officinale belong to the tetraploid taxon, Nasturtium microphyllum. One specimen of Nasturtium officinale from eNfld. (St. John's, Robinson & Schrenk, 1894) is reported in Warwick et al. 1999.]
