[Astragalus eucosmus is found in calcareous sites in w/nw/neNfld. (Bouchard et al. 1991). There is one known location in nLab. for Astragalus eucosmus (S.LWelsh, pers. comm., 1999), as well as locations from seLab. Astragalus robbinsii var. fernaldii (Rydb.) B.Boivin, was included in the previous checklist (Meades et al. 2000) and reported as endemic to nwNfld. and seLabrador. However, recent research by Sokoloff (2010) and Sokoloff & Gillespie (2012) have shown that specimens of A. robbinsii var. fernaldii consist of misidentified collections of Astragalus eucosmus (from seLabrador) and A. robbinsii var. minor (from nwNfld.). It is interesting to note that the type specimen of Atelophragma fernaldii, designated in 1929 by Rydberg, was a 1910 collection from Blanc Sablon, Québec, by M.L. Fernald, which Fernald had identified as Astragalus eucosmus (Sokoloff 2010). Based on Sokoloff & Gillespie's work, Astragalus robbinsii var. fernaldii has been reduced to synonymy under Astragalus eucosmus.]
