[Norway maple is the most commonly planted maple in urban areas in Nfld. and includes many cultivars with green, red, yellow, or variegated leaves. The most common red- to purple-leaved cultivars are 'Crimson King' and 'Schwedleri', while cultivar 'Drummondii' has green leaves bordered by wide white margins, and cultivar 'Princeton Gold' has yellow leaves. Seedlings of Acer platanoides are often seen along garden edges and sidewalks near planted trees, but these are usually mowed down before they become established.]
