[Dryopteris intermedia is diploid and one of the parent species of allotetraploids Dryopteris campyloptera and Dryopteris carthusiana (FNA 2:287). Two specimens, reported to be Dryopteris intermedia were collected by the late M. Macdonald (Jacques-Whitford/Stantec) during the 2006 Lower Churchill fieldwork, but the identity of these specimens is in doubt and requires validation.]
