[Epilobium saximontanum is known from moist limestone habitats (Bouchard et al. 1991). P. Hoch (pers. comm., 5/2000) states that part of the reason that Epilobium saximontanum has been reported from Labrador is that E. steckerianum (type from nLab.) was erroneously considered a synonymy of E. saximontanum, following Munz's 1965 Epilobium treatment. Epilobium steckerianum is actually a synonym of E. hornemannii, according to P. Hoch, who has seen no specimens of E. saximontanum from Labrador. Although known from northern Québec, to date, no known specimens of Epilobium saximontanum exist from Labrador.]
