[In Labrador, Carex tonsa was first collected by J.M. Gillett and W.I. Findlay in 1950 from the Goose Bay area and from sand terraces along the Lower Churchill River, west of Goose Bay. It has since been relocated by several researchers in recent years. In Nfld., C. tonsa was reported from sandy soil in two locations on the northeast coast (Bouchard et al., 1991). Both sites have been relocated (J. Maunder 2008).]
